Weerfeest is a musical experience connecting the lives of thousands of people.
A celebration of life and a totally new way of experiencing music. Not in theatres, but on the street 24/7. Yet no less grotesque than your average opera cycle: roughly 5 hours of new compositions and another two of partner content comprise this work. Weerfeest (literally ‘again feast’)
Weerfeest is an immersive sound artwork that can be experienced only on location. Spread over the city centre of Almere, it spans 30 compositions showing the life of different inhabitants.
These ‘acts’ of 8 to 10 minutes each are telling the story of their narrator, and are connected in a greater scheme of four routes through the city, alongside works by local artists, bands, ensembles and choirs.
The traffic-free centre of Almere proved a perfect testing grounds for our audio tech. Undisturbed you can roam the 4 sq km sound garden we’ve created. What makes it unique is that every instrument, choir singer or band member has their own unique gps-location. You as the listener walk among them, as if on the stage they’re playing at. And the stories told by locals were recorded where you hear them, connecting you with the narrator in a metaphysical way.
